Ten: Bächle

Bächle
I rather like to call these street creeks! They are all throughout the city center of Freiburg, and are literally little streams. Actually, in some places, they are MUCH bigger. My guidebook says that the first record of them is from the 1200s, and they were used to get air flow into the city. The water comes from the Dreisam river, and there is 15km worth of Bächle in the city. It's outrageously quaint! Sometimes little kinders play with little sailboats in them!! I may or may not own a pretty blue and green one! A local Frieburg legend says that if you fall in one, you will marry a Freiburger. Since mom has told me that this is not allowed, I have been VERY careful not to fall it. Umm... PASS.
