The Marshall Plan
Between 1948 and 1951 the United States gifted Europe 13 billion dollars to rebuild, which is about $400 billion US Dollars today.
After living in Europe for almost four months and experiencing the EU, and what it has to offer... I have developed a profound love for the United States of America. This feeling of patriotism has also been inspired in many of my fellow Americans here. To further grow our love, their is evidence of American influence EVERYWHERE. In Freiburg, we have Starbucks, McDonalds, Subway, and Burger King. Many stores play American christmas music. Almost all of the movies playing in theaters are dubbed American movies. And most significantly, there is evidence like this Mosaic representation Freiburg's sister city, Madison. As in Madison, Wisconsin. Due to our newfound adoration, and this irrefutable evidence, we think that the EU may well be the 51st state of the union.
